Headshots for Authors

It’s always been both fascinating and sad to me that when I pick up two different books from an author (and I know the books were written ten years apart), the headshot on the inside cover of the book is the same. Authors are notorious for not putting in the effort to keep their headshots updated, and I think is criminal. You’re not the same person today that you were when you wrote your first book 15 years ago, so you shouldn’t be using the same headshot on your bio!

For that reason, I was absolutely thrilled when I got the opportunity to photograph award-winning author Malcom Hansen. Here’s a link to his novel, They Come in All Colors. I’m so proud of how these headshots came out, combining a sense of both professionalism and relaxedness into a set of images that perfectly reflect the author.
