Queer Wedding Celebration
Jess + Tayler
Jess + Tayler
Today, I’m so thrilled to share this gorgeous queer wedding celebration with all of you. I met Jess through social media two years ago, and when she contacted me about photographing her and Tayler’s wedding, I was crying, jumping, and dancing… and I may have been screaming “YES!” at my phone while clumsily trying to type my reply. Jess happens to be an insanely talented photographer, one of my favorite TikTok creators, and is just an amazing human in general, so I knew this day was going to be super fun and SUPER queer!! She wanted to throw the most proud, queer wedding celebration imaginable, and let me tell you… she delivered. From bridesmaid dresses in every shade of the rainbow, to rainbow florals, to custom rainbow kicks, to a flash mob with gay pride flags, sunglasses, and feather boas in every color of the rainbow… this wedding was the most glorious celebration of Jess and Tayler’s love. I cannot say enough about how beautiful Tayler and Jess are inside and out. This was one of those wedding days that we were gutted to leave… especially since we live in the city and they live in upstate NY.
The wedding was held at lesbian-owned-and-operated Garland City Beer Works in Watertown, New York (aka South Canada). And though we had a bit of rain to contend with, it didn’t get in the way of this perfect celebration. I also have to say that Jess made every single bit of the décor–floral arrangements, bouquets, vow books, guest book, literally everything… herself.
I rarely share my own story in professional spaces, but anyone who has heard my story knows that I was raised in an environment that was outright hostile to LGBTQIA+ people. And as a queer woman, I wasn’t even allowed to engage with that part of myself until I was fully uprooted and outside of the hostile spaces that had built walls around me, limited who I was allowed to be, what I was allowed to say, and who I was allowed to form relationships with. Jess was raised in the same environment, so getting to photograph her love story was especially exciting for me.
Now, as an out and proud queer woman, getting to be a part of ANY celebration of queer love, gay love, bisexual love, lesbian love, trans love, asexual love, etc… feels like a gift. If you’re searching for a photographer who will be as excited about your LGBTQIA+ love story as you are, please get in touch. I’m your photographer.
So without further ado, please enjoy this perfect queer wedding celebration, and laugh, smile, and maybe shed a tear as you witness how love wins!
